Razer Mamba Review: Is This the Best Mouse Ever? [PICS]
Razer calls its Mamba mouse the “first true wireless gaming mouse.” Released this summer, the 2012 model of the Mamba retails for $130, and that made me wonder: Would a mouse that costs this much be significantly better than any I’ve ever tested? Let’s try it. One look at the elaborate packaging of the Razer Mamba made me raise a couple of eyebrows. It’s simply the fanciest packaging I’ve ever seen on any product. You have to see it in our gallery below to believe it, but suffice to say it’s like a jewelry display case where the mouse is put up on a pedestal for all to see. Thankfully, after removing one piece of tape it was easy to extricate the Mamba from its luxuriant confines. This mouse works in both wired and wireless modes, and it includes an attractive charging dock with backlighting encircling its base and illuminating its pairing button. The included mini USB cable plugs into either the dock or underneath the mouse, where it can be securely attached using a clever switch.

Sunday Shop Update: Painter’s Case to Jewelry Display
Ihope you’ve had a great weekend. As the craft fair draws nearer, I’ve shifted my focus from creating jewelry to creating displays. I want to share with you how I’ve outfitted B’s uncle’s painters case from the early 1960′s to a jewelry display. The rules for me using this sentimental item inluded no sanding, painting, drilling, decopauging, or doing anything that might permanently change the case. The case itself is beautiful, telling a story of a painter’s toolbox… I decided to cut fabric to fit the lining of the case and I adhered the fabric using a double sided hem tape which is more secure than normal double sided tape. This tape is also flexible enough to not rip into the wood. The cubby holes in the center are perfect for holding brooches, earrings, or hairpins. I’ll be spreading my items out among numerous vintage plates, but I definitely want to utilize this space. I’ll use the top portion of the painter’s case to hang some of my necklaces.

Jewelry shop owner severely beaten in home invasion
The 57-year-old owner of a Loop jewelry supply business was savagely beaten in a Wednesday night home invasion of his Sauganash residence, police said this morning. Two armed men stormed into the house on the 6300 block of North Kildare Avenue on the Northwest Side about 9:20 p.m. and bound Shai Miller with duct-tape before beating him, police said. They also tied up his 14-year-old son, who was not otherwise harmed. Miller was taken in critical condition to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston , where he was in intensive care with a brain hemorrhage early this morning. According to preliminary police reports the men fled with jewelry, silverware and a painting. Miller is the owner and president of Miller’s Jewelry Supply Inc., 5 S. Wabash Ave. on Jeweler’s Row, a company that supplies jewelers with display cases and jewelry making equipment, according to state records. News of the attack on one of their own rippled through Jeweler’s Row today.

I often have strange dreams
Sometimes it was a small family, other times it was a whole herd of friends. Gatsby’s closed their doors for good around 1990. Which was probably a good thing, because Sherwin (one of the owners) was pushing close to 80 by then, I’m sure. So, back to my dream. I had dreamed I’d gone back to MA to help out in the store, and naturally, as can happen in a dream, the store looked exactly the same. I was at the register, which was at the front of the store right by the entrance which had display cases of jewelry and health & beauty products. Suddenly, a large groups of the owner’s friends came in and were all gathered around the front counter, making me feel like they were a mob closing in. Phyllis came out from the back office and they all scattered to go say hi to her, except for a couple of women who wanted to look at some Kiehl’s skin creams, which were a big hit with the ladies from “The City”. Phyllis, Sherwin and the group, except for the ladies I was helping, left for lunch and I was left to run the store.

Robbers can’t get the goods, a lap dance in class and substituting beans for drugs
Smashing failure: Two Honolulu men tried to kick, smash and shoot their way into a display case of jewelry. Video shows the robbers using a hammer, a shotgun and their feet to try to get at the goods. After three tries, they left. Tipsy toddler: A 2-year-old was accidentally served sangria instead of orange juice at an Olive Garden in Lakeland, Fla. The chain has cautioned its employees to be more careful with alcoholic drinks. The child suffered no lasting effects. Teacher pets: Exotic dancers were part of a professor’s extra-credit symposium on ethics at La Salle University in Philadelphia. The seminar ended abruptly after the business school’s dean showed up. One dancer gave a lap dance to an assistant professor. School officials are investigating. Gas hustler: An Indiana man was arrested after he showed up at a North Dakota police station looking for help to buy gas. The man said he was trying to attend a funeral.

Burglar smashes display cases, steals jewelry from Summit Township store
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a break-in this morning at Meagher’s Jewelers in Summit Township. Deputies were called to the store, 2630 Kibby Road, about 3:50 a.m. for a burglary alarm. When they arrived, they found a broken window and evidence of forced entry, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office. Numerous display cases had been smashed and several items of jewelry had been taken, deputies reported. The suspect is believed to have fled the area in an unknown vehicle, which may have been parked nearby, according to the statement. A Michigan State Police dog team attempted to track the suspect or suspects, but was not successful. Anyone with information about the crime is encouraged to call the county tip line at 787-0212 or Detective Sgt. Lee Rose at 768-7931
